My name is Dr. Tom Masters, D.O. I am the physician here at Tomar Pain Centers. There are many concerns people are having at this time about the COVID-19 virus and its spread throughout Arizona and the United States.
Some facts that are pertinent about COVID-19 especially in Arizona. The COVID-19 virus is part of a family of “cold-flu” viruses and is very temperature sensitive. This is why the greatest spread is in cold-wet-damp environments. Arizona’s climate, hot and dry, is extremely effective in limiting the spread of any flu viruses.
The virus is not airborne per se, but can be spread by mucous droplets, coughing, from infected people. Precautions such as, frequent hand washing, cleaning surfaces, and not touching the face with hands are very effective in curbing the spread of any virus or bacteria.
Even if exposed to COVID-19 or any flu virus the chances of symptoms arising are less than one in a hundred. Those who become symptomatic generally have mild flu like symptoms for a few days. Severe symptoms occur only in those individuals who are immune comprised with heart, lung, gastric pathologies.
Lastly, COVID-19 “epidemic” is nowhere near the medical problem of 2009-2010 “Swine Flu” outbreak. Then over 60 million people were exposed, and thousands died. Most people today do not even remember this “epidemic.”
As the Bible states eloquently, “Be Not afraid.” “This too shall pass.”
Tomar Pain Centers are open daily to aid in treating muscle skeletal pains and aches caused by whatever pathogens are around. The clinic follows strict CDC guidelines is providing clean and sterile environments. Call today to make an appointment.
“You too can live without the pain.”
